Doe Maar Normaal Project Opening: Ephemera X Daniela Delgado\u00a0How can we understand thrift culture in a global context? What do the things we own say about ourselves?\u00a0Daniela Delgado\u2019s first solo exhibition Ephemera, reflects upon the transient value of garments and objects in our lives. Through the act of curating second hand clothes from flea markets, vintage and recycling stores in Rotterdam, the archival collection showcases both rescued preowned pieces and new upcycling projects by emergent Peruvian designers, Maria Wells, Mina Jeri and Zaddy.\u00a0\u00a0Ephemera centers on the practice of thrift and recollection, as a countermovement to throwaway culture. Inspired by the reconstruction scene in Rotterdam, it encourages finding and designing new outlets where used\u00a0 things can be seen in a light of opportunity. When put together, the items present a style-fluid, playful identity that celebrates remixing fabrics and eras to disrupt the standard Doe.\u00a0At its core, Doe Maar Normaal is a post-materialist 21st century brand focused on reevaluating clothing collectively.

Doe Maar Normaal Project Opening: Ephemera X Daniela Delgado\u00a0\u00bfC\u00f3mo entendemos la moda en un contexto global de consumo sin l\u00edmites? \u00bfA qu\u00e9 responde nuestra necesidad de acumular ropa? \u00bfQu\u00e9 nos indican las prendas que utilizamos sobre nosotros mismos? Menos puede ser m\u00e1s. Recuperando un conjunto de art\u00edculos de segunda mano desde la escena thrift de Rotterdam e incluyendo una selecci\u00f3n de prendas trabajadas junto a dise\u00f1adores peruanos emergentes, la primera muestra de Daniela Delgado nos acerca a una nueva forma de entender el acto de vestir.\u00a0Ephemera responde a la cultura del descarte. Es un llamado para cuestionar el tiempo, el espacio y el valor que le otorgamos a los objetos materiales dentro de nuestra cotidianidad. Toma como punto de partida el concepto del ahorro caracter\u00edstico de la cultura holandesa y nos incita a pensar en un nuevo tipo de vestimenta que re-usa, re-cicla y re-ordena lo que ya tenemos. Aqu\u00ed lo sobrio se desprende de lo austero y encuentra su brillo en el color, su orden en lo imperfecto y su sentido en el juego. Libre de definiciones y de reglas uniformes, Daniela propone algo concreto: construir una est\u00e9tica y performar una identidad a partir de formas colectivas de yuxtaponer la ropa. Frente a un contexto en donde lo que est\u00e1 de moda siempre cambia, y su novedad parece no detenerse, el proyecto Doe Maar Normaal transforma los escombros de una cultura del desecho en lujos atemporales.\u00a0
